HISTORY OF ALASKA

 Alaska became a state on January 3, 1959. In 1867 the United States purchased the land for two cents an acre.

People did not like the purchase at first but when there was gold discovered people liked the land and they moved there for gold. The first people to settle in Alaska were Russians. The population of my state is 737,438.
